2022 Transplant Games
2022 Transplant Games

Summer is just around the corner. The upcoming warmer months evoke images of outdoor activities and fun, and for the transplant community—the return of the Transplant Games.

More than 8,000 transplant recipients are expected to compete at the 2022 Transplant Games taking place in San Diego, California from July 29 – August 3. The six-day competition, hosted by Transplant Life Foundation, is expected to be the largest to date since the event’s inception in 1990.

At the biennial event, transplant recipients, living donors and their families, those on the transplant waitlist, and transplant professionals from across the U.S. and the globe, will gather to celebrate the gift of life, connect with others in the transplant community, and have fun.

One previous participant from Mississippi shared, “I received life, and I participate in these games so I can give back the enthusiasm and motivation back to people who have once suffered from this sickness, and now they don’t have to.”

Participants are thrilled at the prospect of gathering with their fellow transplant recipients and living donors since the 2020 competition was postponed until 2021 due to the pandemic, and last year’s event was scaled back to include smaller, in-person and virtual events.

“I can’t wait to see others I’ve gotten to meet from previous competitions, as well as make new friends,” shared one participant for this year’s Games. “There’s something about coming together with those who have been through what you’ve been through and being able to help others who are about to go through what you’ve already experienced — there’s a strength in sharing.”

CareDx is proud to be the presenting sponsor of this year’s Transplant Games. Besides being a leader in transplant innovation, CareDx also aims to provide best-in-class patient education, resources, and support through its webinars, online resources, and its AlloCare® app, the official app of the Transplant Games.

Attendees will be able to use the app for all their informational needs for the Games, including the event schedule, venue locations, transportation options, and more. At the same time, they will have access to the app’s full functionality—health tracking options, news articles, and a community chat so they can connect with other members of the transplant community.
